Last Wednesday, we hosted our inaugural landlord and property investor networking event alongside local estate agent Holland & Odam at the Fondo Lounge in Street. lt came together for what turned out to be a brilliant evening of good food, great chat, and some incredibly insightful conversations.
For those who attended, whether you came to learn about expanding your portfolio, get your head around what’s happening in the market, or simply meet some like-minded people, we hope you left feeling like it was well worth your evening.
How the Night Unfolded
Prosecco was flowing from the moment guests arrived, and the tapas-style food went down an absolute treat, which combined to ensure that it didn’t take long at all before the room was buzzing with lively conversation.
It was brilliant to see such a real mix of people: experienced landlords, newer investors, and everything in between. That kind of variety always makes for a much richer evening, giving everyone something new to learn.
After plenty of mingling, our expert panel drawn from across the property and investment industries took to the floor ready to tackle the burning questions the room had been waiting to ask.
Our Panel of Experts
- Tom Horsey – Managing Director @ The Levels Financial – Pushed back on the narrative, common across social media and the press, that the buy-to-let mortgage market is finished, and backed it up with the figures to prove it.
- Dan Hewitt – Director @ TLF Wealth Management – Discussed why retirement planning needs more than just buy-to-lets. Spreading your wealth, for instance by opening a stocks and shares ISA, gives you a much more resilient financial future.
- Sam Ward – Advisor @ TLF Specialist Finance – Explored the benefits of portfolio finance and how property investors can use Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) to use their pension funds to invest in commercial property.
- Ian Odam – Director @ Holland & Odam – Gave a detail overview of the local property market in Street and the surrounding areas, painting a picture of the opportunities available to investors in the region.
- Gemma Acreman – Lettings Manager @ Holland & Odam – Taking on perhaps the most challenging task of the evening, clearly broke down the new Renters’ Rights Act and dispelled the misconceptions that have been circulating around it.
